Terms of Use

General Information

  • This weblog is designed to be both usable and accessible, but it makes no guarantees to that or any other effect. The blog author and the web administrator are one and the same, and the author can be said to be more of a writer—or lover—than a webmaster. HTML coding, PHP scripting, and what not are a lot like Islamic scriptures in that the blog author now knows a lot more about them than he ever wanted to know, but he is no expert. If you’re having issues accessing this weblog or any of its features, please make use of the contact page. Again, there are no guarantees, but the “webmaster” will try to satisfy. :-)
  • Speaking of guarantees, another appropriate analogy is that this weblog is a lot like western civilization or modern life as we know it. Just because it’s here today, that’s no guarantee it will be here tomorrow.
  • Be aware that links provided to external sources may lead to less accessible or less usable conditions. Links are provided for reader convenience only, and there is no attendant implication that Haid Dasalami endorses the content on a linked site; nor is it implied that the external site endorses or supports this weblog.

Privacy Policy

  • Your privacy and the author’s are equally important, so he will protect your privacy as if it were his own. Like every other site in the blogosphere, this weblog does collect certain information when you visit, subscribe, post a comment, or contact the author by e-mail. Your use of this site means Haid Dasalami may record your e-mail address, internet protocol or IP address, and other information you may voluntarily provide. All of this data is treated strictly confidentially according to the highest ethical standards, and your personal information will never be disclosed to, shared with, or sold to a third party under any circumstances.
  • Moreover, you will not receive e-mail spam as a consequence of your subscription or registration; nor will you receive announcements from “partners” or “affiliates.” If you subscribe to this blog, you get new blog content when it goes live and absolutely nothing else. And of course you may unsubscribe at any time.
  • If you register, Haid Dasalami will install a cookie on your browser simply to identify you when you post a comment. This blog does not use third-party cookies of any kind and does not track your usage of any other sites. Strict security measures are employed to safeguard your personal information from the prying eyes of malevolent third parties, and when your data is no longer needed to administer the blog, it is properly discarded and erased.

Comments Policy

  • Registration is open to all, but you need not register or log in to comment. Registration is appreciated, however, and logging in does make commenting easier for registered users.
  • In any case, a real e-mail account and valid e-mail address are required, but pseudonyms are fine. This isn’t the FBI.
  • The views expressed in user comments are not necessarily shared by the blog author, who seeks to accommodate a wide range of user expression. Neither does the mere fact of a comment being published imply endorsement by Haid Dasalami, who should not be expected to answer for the views of others.
  • Although user commentary is unmoderated, the blog author requires comments to be civil and to maintain at least a modest measure of decorum. Comments deemed to cross the line may be edited or removed entirely, but allowing an offensive comment to remain published should in no way be regarded as an approval by Haid Dasalami, since there may be other good reasons for declining to censure it.
  • Off-topic commentary is not absolutely verboten, but if you want your own blog no one is stopping you. You are encouraged to join vigorously in the discussion, but you will not be permitted to control the proceedings or to promote your own pet agenda by repeatedly steering the discussion to off-topic matters.
