St. James the Moor Slayer

This is another photo test of Windows Live Writer, celebrating one “small victory,” as a friend who put me on to it put it, for all of us and particularly for the good guys in Spain. It seems the statue of Spain’s patron saint is offensive to local Muslims, but it will nevertheless remain on display thanks to public outcry over a decision by Church bureaucrats, capitulating to the outraged Muslim minority, to remove it from its traditional place in the cathedral Santiago de Compostela.
You may wonder how a first-century Jew winds up whacking off Moorish heads in the ninth century. Now that’s a story. I’ll bet the members of the religion of perpetual outrage aren’t even aware St. James is a Jew.
My guess is that the incensed Muslims don’t like the saint’s moniker much either, which is why the statue must remain on display, unless of course Spaniards are prepared to get a new patron saint, for which they have presently shown themselves not in the mood.
Remove the statue and you thereby sack the patron saint of Spain.
